Helen Padrick Butler, 63, of 349 P. A. Nobles Store Road, Deep Run, died peacefully with her family present at her side at Pitt County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 25, 2006.

Helen was a woman of strong faith who valued, loved and cherished her family more than anything in the world.  She was a caring homemaker who wanted nothing more than to be there for whomever needed her whether it was sitting by a sick loved one, a phone call to check up on you at just the right moment, or just giving that caring smile, hug, and kiss that would warm up the room in an instant.

Helen was known for picking up new family which she lovingly called “strays”.   She loved, nurtured, and looked after them as if they were one of her own.  That was her giving nature to help others when they needed it and to look after all whom needed looking after.

At her church, Rivermont Presbyterian Church in Kinston, she was an Elder and the Treasurer before becoming sick, the Head of Christian Education, the Founder of Children’s Church, volunteer for American Cancer Society, and instrumental in helping to start the county wide PTA in Lenoir County in the ‘70’s.

Funeral Services provided by Howard-Carter & Stroud will be held on Saturday, October 28th at Rivermont Presbyterian Church at 2pm with Rev. James Gale, Rev. Spike Coleman, and Chaplan James Workman officiating the celebration of Helen’s life.  Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include her loving husband Arthur Butler of Deep Run; daughter Vickie Wessell of Deep Run; son Ron Butler of Emerald Isle; son Tony Butler  and wife Jenn Butler of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Ashley Stallings, Trey Wessell, Kaleb Wessell, and Kaitlyn Wessell; two great grand-children, Will Jewell and Lexi Stallings; older sister Joanne Howard; older brother Alvin “Bud” Patrick; and younger brother Bobby Padrick;  stray children Norma Daniels, Anne Daughety, Gabby Wilson,  and Miki Best, and too many more to name.

Helen was preceeded in death by daughter, Lori Denise Butler; parents, Hubert “Pa” Padrick & Maggie “Ma” Padrick; sisters, Margaret Herring and Delores “George” Gregory; and sister-in-law, Linda Jones Padrick.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Friday night at Howard-Carter Funeral home and at other times at the home, 349 P.A.
